Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000 annually. The salary will be commensurate with the experience, skills, and qualifications that the candidate brings to the position.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY: Lead the finance, accounting, and reporting activities including strategy and policy for the Cobb Chamber, Cobb Chamber Foundation, the Development Authority of Cobb County, SelectCobb and the Cumberland Community Improvement District. The controller is responsible for overseeing day-to-day finance operations, accounting functions (accounts payable and receivable), ensure compliance with legal requirements, manage the annual audit processes, and maintain financial integrity for abovementioned entities. The Controller ensures that systems and procedures are in place to support effective program implementation. The Controller works closely with Departments and teams to educate about finance and accounting procedures but also to explore ways the finance function can support program operations.
YOUR DELIVERABLES:
Oversees all accounts, investments, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory compliance.
Maintains internal controls and safeguards to receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
Oversee accounting function; ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, staff, Finance Committee(s), Executive Committee(s), Board(s), CCID, and DACC.
Implement new financial and reporting technologies as needed to improve staff efficiency and accountability while maintaining financial security.
Determine and implement process improvements for Financial items
Ensure financial reports are provided to the Executive Assistant and Board Secretary in a timely manner to be forwarded to relevant Boards and Committees.
Prepare for Finance Committee meetings in collaboration with the COO and Accountant; initiate agenda items and coordinate with the Accountant to ensure timely preparation of finance committee packets.
Coordinate successful audits for above entities; ensure policies and procedures are followed, communicate with auditors and schedule timely audit presentation to Finance Committee, CID board, and DACC.
Coordinate and communicate with CEO, COO, and Finance Committee Chair to keep informed of financial position of the chamber.
Develop and maintain user-friendly variance reports to aid staff in staying on track with budget.
Supervise Senior Staff Accountant and develop strategies to ensure efficient and effective operations while also providing quality customer service to staff.
Train Senior Staff Accountant in higher level accounting functions for the purpose of strengthening the team and career development for accounting team.
Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment Oversee annual budget preparation with chamber staff; report timely information to senior management; prepare budget presentation for Finance Committee approval in 4th quarter and board approval in January.
Provide financial forecasting and analysis as requested.
Assist CEO and leadership staff with projects as needed.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting and five years of broad work experience in accounting and finance, preferably including accounting management for entities with multiple cost centers; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with common small-business accounting software is necessary. MBA or CPA is highly desirable and experience with non-profit, governmental, and fund accounting is highly desirable.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience and ability to effectively present information to top management, finance committee, peers and other groups.
Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software.
Ability to understand how operational changes impact accounting procedures.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports and legal documents.
Knowledge of accounting principles including GL, Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow and their interrelation.
Ability to review financial statements, make corrections, and explain variances
Demonstrated ability to be a team-player; ability to work well with all types of people, including volunteers, managers and staff
Personal qualities of integrity and credibility.
Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
