The CEO is responsible for the overall leadership and strategic development of the Chamber, its membership, and programs. The CEO oversees all operational, financial, and visioning aspects of the Chamber. The CEO is a key representative and advocate for business owners and employers and is the official spokesperson for the Chamber.
The CEO for the North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce is actively involved in community wide business and economic related issues and events as well as effective advocating for business at local, state, and regional levels of government. The CEO is involved in high-level interaction with executives of companies of all sizes, education leaders, community organizations, foundations, and government officials on economic and community development issues.
Knowledge and Experience:
Demonstrates knowledge with the unique challenges of running a nonprofit operation.
Experience working with a membership-based organization such as a Chamber of Commerce is highly desirable.
Experience in developing and executing annual work plans.
Successful experience forging productive alliances across private, public, and governmental sectors.
Demonstrates ability to manage financial affairs of an organization and communicate effectively with the Board of Directors.
Ability to effectively articulate goals, objectives, and policy positions of the Chamber to the media and community.
Professional experience with public relations, media relations, and public speaking.
Ability to hire, develop and lead a team.
Experience with governance issues and Board of Director interactions.

Excellent listener, outstanding written and oral communication skills, and effective presentation skills to multiple audiences.
Strategic visionary thinker: ability to identify challenges, threats, and opportunities that exist in the environment; ability to think differently about how the business environment operates and look for new ways to solve problems.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in marketing, business, finance, or related fields of study.
Minimum of five years business experience with senior management interaction. A combination of nonprofit and for profit preferred but no required.
Experience in directing staff and managing the financial process of an organization.
Understanding of the various media platforms and how to maximize the Chamber’s brand awareness through these marketing channels.
Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and industries to grow membership.
Every action the North Clackamas Chamber takes is aimed at promoting and advocating for an environment that allows for a strong business presence and enables growth and competition. To succeed, a key focus of our energy is to advocate for business and take action with our cities, county and state that assures business can operate with appropriate regulations, taxes, and representation.
It is also essential that businesses work together to find solutions for their own needs, so the Chamber provides opportunity for owners, leaders, and decision makers to come together at meaningful forums and events to allow them to connect and create the relationships that help them to answer their most difficult questions.
The Chamber has also taken an instrumental role to support and enhance leaders’ awareness and skills training by offering advanced leadership training and business education programs. Owners and emerging leaders can gain the professional development to become visionary and dedicated leaders that will help our community thrive.
