Overview This is a high-profile, fast paced position, with significant exposure and impact in the community. There are approximately 750 Chamber members with two-thirds employing 20 employees or less. The members represent a broad cross section of the community. A significant part of the success of the Chamber over the past decade is the mobilization of volunteers and a solid business plan. The organizational chart consists of the policy-making Board of Directors with four committees and about 20 subcommittees. The Chamber was formed in 1882 and is a member of the US Chamber of Commerce.
General Job Description The President and CEO (FLSA exempt) is responsible for the effective and efficient administration of staff and to assure that all activities of Chamber are coordinated. There are a number of activities which occur after regular business hours and they are considered part of the work-week. The President and CEO is the face of the Chamber and expected to be in attendance at Chamber functions.
Five years in a leadership role in a Chamber of Commerce or equivalent experience and a four year degree in business or closely related field or equivalent experience are required. The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics: ability to work with diverse groups; excel at building relationships; have considerable business acumen; be able to develop and manage several large projects simultaneously; have excellent speaking and communication skills; and have outstanding teamwork skills.
