The President and CEO works collaboratively and under the leadership of the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee to:
Carry out the mission of the Chamber,
Achieve the vision of the Chamber,
Model the values of the organization.
As the chief executive officer of the Chamber, responsibilities include managing and directing all operations, programs, activities, and affairs of the organization, including implementation of the Chamber’s overall Strategic Plan.
The President and CEO supports the Chamber’s Board of Directors and serves as the face of the Chamber, acting as a community leader, ambassador and advocate for business, manufacturing, education, healthcare, government, tourism and other key sectors of the Burke County economy with the goal of contributing to a prosperous climate and attractive quality of life.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, the President and CEO is responsible for the following:
Implementing the Chamber’s broad multi-year Strategic Plan and detailed year-by-year management plans.
Meeting or exceeding financial metrics in the annual operating budget.
Developing a plan of continued implementation that:
Enhances and expands the Chamber’s value proposition and grows the Chamber’s membership through recruiting and retention activities, based on Board-approved goals.
Increases the Chamber’s influence in key areas of concern across Burke County, and within the region and state.
Prepares all communications tools necessary for conducting the business of the Chamber, including Board, Executive and Committee meeting agendas, minutes, financial reports, budgets, and other items, with advice and counsel of the Board Chair.
Develops, maintains. communicates, and upholds all Chamber policies and procedures.
Ensures effective communications both within and outside the Chamber.
Provides support to the Board for its recruiting, nomination and election process for Board members, as well as delivering an orientation program for new members.
Develops and implements creative and dynamic communications plans across multiple platforms targeting Chamber membership development and loyalty, legislative advocacy, community priorities, staff management and relationship-building all primary audiences.
Recruits, trains, supervises, evaluates and develops Chamber staff members.
Embraces technology and emerging trends to help the Chamber meet its goals.
Serves as the Public Relations lead for the Chamber working with members, media, community leaders and visitors to Burke County.

The successful candidate for the President/CEO of the Burke Chamber of Commerce will be required to live in Burke County upon employment.
Salary and Closing Date:
Salary is to commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package will be offered. Position closing date is April 10, 2018

Candidates for the position of President and CEO will have a proven record of accomplishment in executive leadership, , board relations, operational management, advocacy, and relationship building.. Other qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required or equivalent related experience.
At least five years’ experience as a successful leader with business acumen
Strong organizational and strategic skills; experience in governance issues and volunteer boards.
Successful record of accomplishment for engaging, partnering and building alliances .
Ability to represent the Chamber’s vision, mission, goals, and outcomes to Board members, government agencies, and industry leaders.
Superior verbal and written communication skills and confidence as a public speaker.
Proven experience leading a strong, diverse staff in a team-oriented environment;.
Proven record of accomplishment of budgetary and fiscal management and creative problem-solving skills.
