The Group Vice President is responsible for managing the core initiatives of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce, including but not limited to economic development, education, public policy, shared services and membership. The GVP will report directly to the CEO of the Chamber. The Action Group Leaders and Department Heads will report to the Group Vice President.
Strategic, tactical and short-term operations management to include development, design, operation, and improvement of systems that create and deliver the Chamber services to its members and other constituent stakeholders.
Supervision and support of the work of the respective Action Groups and Departments to achieve the stated goals and objectives of approved work plans.
Oversight of public policy initiatives on behalf of the Chamber and its affiliate organizations.
Developing appropriate inter-governmental relations to support regional economic development opportunities and other cooperative ventures.
Identifying and pursuing grant opportunities to support the strategic plan of the Chamber.
Developing an appropriate short-term and long-term fund development strategy to ensure financial stability.
Oversight of the fiscal status, reporting, and systems used by the Chamber and its affiliate organizations in reporting to the CEO, and Board of Directors.
Definition and general oversight of the Chamber staffing needs, compensation structure, and organizational hierarchy as it relates to economic development and education.
Oversight of marketing initiatives on behalf of the Chamber and its affiliate organizations.
Identifying and pursuing other appropriate relationships with key stakeholders that result in revenue-generating, value-added initiatives in alignment with the overall vision and mission of the Chamber.
Identifying critical issues for CEO review and board action.
Oversee review of legal contracts on behalf of the Chamber and its affiliate organizations.
Representing the Chamber on certain community boards and committees as deemed appropriate by the CEO and/or the Board of Directors.
Implement sustainability and economic development ecosystem strategies.
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field. Masters Degree preferred.
10 years or more of experience in an Executive Level or Management level position.
Strong analytical and logical problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal communication and relational skills, good organizational and project management skills; sound judgment, initiative, flexibility, and detail-oriented.
Ability to adhere to priorities, meet multiple deadlines and effectively present and explain complex information.
